Whether you call it Kochi or Cochin, this harbour city offers a picturesque stopover on an India cruise like no other. With the influences of British, Dutch and Portuguese colonisation over the last 500 years, Kochi feels particularly global, whether you’re having a coffee at the local Kashi Art Cafe or touring Fort Kochi on your own. See the famous Chinese fishing nets, one of Kochi's favourite photo opportunities, and let the local fishermen show you the catch of the day.Or take a trip beyond Kochi to Alappuzha during your Cochin cruise and indulge in thali and kebabs after a day’s cruise on the Arabian Sea. Fortunately, Kochi itself is easy to walk around and most of the sights are close to each other. Cochin is less hectic than Mumbai and has retained its small-town charm, which is ideal for a leisurely exploration.

Many important finds such as human bones and storage vessels were made,a gold ornament, glass beads, stone beads, utensils made of stone, copper and iron, typical pottery, early Chera coins, a brick wall, a brick platform, a ring well, a quay with bollards and a six-meter-long wooden canoe parallel to the quay structure about 2.5 m below the surface.
